Smoke and Mirrors
5 Nov 1605: The citizens of London lit bonfires to celebrate the capture of Guy Fawkes and the failure of the Catholic gunpowder plot to blow up the new King and Parliament.
The plotters fled, desperate to ignite rebellion and save their skins. Their story did not end well.
Lamphouse Theatre and Jumped Up Theatre are creating a festive evening of entertainment. There will be bonfires, live music, dramatic stories, and a Juggling Inferno performance, as we catch a glimpse of firework parties lighting up the city’s skyline.
Our houseband for the night will be Manière des Bohémiens with a gypsy jazz set which will get you all dancing, plus some special guests. Well-known Peterborough artists, Sue Shields and Janet Bates, will be making Guys and building fire sculpture, to add to the evenings drama.
Becky Owen-Fisher and Tom Fox from Lamphouse Theatre are staging a fun, fast and furious retelling of the Gunpowder Plot in the geosphere, so advance booking is recommended as space is limited.
Good shoes, warm coats and a sense of adventure are essential.
